A lazy summer day by a stream~

I finally put my illustration degree into good use and made a proper traditional illustration (although still fanart 😅). Sometimes I really wanted to just "undo" some strokes or move some things around haha but man was this relaxing and satisfying to work on, also I am just so proud of the outcome. I haven't done a proper traditional illustration on this scale since my thesis so it's been a few years.

I took these photos with a phone outside to try and really capture the colors and details.

I loved the idea of Rumble and Frenzy being similar to tfa Soundwave's toy form. But with more expression options. They're so small compared to my OC Smokestack. They fit in his cab.

I understand the whole who is who debate, but I went with Rumble is Blue and Frenzy is Red, because that's how it was in the English G1 show and it feels right to me. K? K. Either way, they're both idiots and I love them.

Then I added Blaster cuz I can. I didn't want him to have an alt too similar to tfa Soundwave, so I made him a news van. Funny enough, I wasn't aware he was a news reporter in one of the various iterations until I skimmed over his wiki later. He likes rock n roll.

His cassettes are Rosanna, Flipsides, Steeljaw, and Ramhorn. Currently contemplating a way to include Rewind and Eject that doesn't seem like too much. I'm wondering if it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to rename Rosanna to Rewind for streamlining purposes. Then Eject can either be renamed to Playback because I like that name better, or Bolts because Eject and Rewind were originally going to be one bot named Bolts. He likes sports and making sports references.

Rennala Selene Gresley

Rennala is the Concept of giving Gordon a daughter. Yes she’s technically his youngest sister but due to being a century apart he assumes a father role. For the eagle eyed she’s wearing Great Northern’s BR number which is symbolic for her being the rebirth of the A3s as a bigger class. The full moon after the eclipse that was the rise of diesels for the Gresley pacifics. Scotsman’s antics do annoy her just like they do Gordon.

My boy Smokestack having a little existential heart to heart with Sari. I just drew wherever there was space, so excuse the disorganization of it.

People these days seem to be obsessed with labeling and categorizing themselves and others. I feel it has led to increased stereotyping(gender, race, politics, etc). There's nothing inherently wrong with having a defined identity trait, but everyone has seemed to forget that you can just...be.

Smokestack: I had always been a steam powered locomotive, 2-8-0 "Consolidation" type wheel configuration, manufactured by Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1907; but when I upgraded, I became a 4-8-8-4, and I match no model ever manufactured.

I'm not sure I can even say I'm a Baldwin Locomotive anymore.

I guess I'm an aerospace craft too, now. A...space locomotive...?

But I've been realizing that I don't need some label to define me.

So I might not know what I am, but... I'm me! And that's all that matters.
